Techniques and Crafts:

We work from raw opal, which we shape by hand using diamond tools. The ring setting is first sculpted in wax, then made in 18K gold using the ancestral technique of lost wax casting. Each stage of creation, from sculpture to foundry, from setting to polishing, is carried out on our premises.

Symbolism of Opal:

  • Greco-Roman world: Powerful lucky charm, adorned the staffs of Roman generals. Nonius, a senator, preferred exile rather than giving his opal to Mark Antony for Cleopatra (CHGH).
  • East: Associated with hope, divine protection. Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva gave the opal its vibrant colors (NIMO).

Ancient Beliefs:

  • Light hair: Women believed that opal guaranteed eternal happiness (PARK).
  • Negativity: Those harboring negative thoughts could not wear an opal without experiencing their own negativity (PARK).
  • Drought: In China, an image of the Dragon Yin was made to invoke rain (GRAN).
