Symbolic

Peridot is associated with the Angel Alaïr, presiding over the growth of trees and forests. It was used in the Middle Ages and until the 18th century for the ornamentation of objects of worship and ecclesiastical furniture. The Three Kings Treasure in Cologne Cathedral is decorated with Peridots (CHGH)

Ancient Beliefs

"The stone gives off highly etheric vibrations, of lightness and beauty, of clairvoyance and ability to solve problems" (PARK)

"The Anglo-Saxon tradition makes it the stone of the month of August and of Leo: the natives of this month have every interest in wearing it, under penalty, say the Americans, of living without love and alone" (HAND)
